Separation of metal admixtures
Magnetic separators are generally devices for separating the ferromagnetic, usually steel component from a given mixture. It can be a mixture of solid components, liquid and gas medium (air). The application of separators is wide, from the mining and exploitation industry, via processing industries, food, chemistry, plastics, medicinal drugs to agricultural facilities. A separate chapter is made up of separators in recycling waste and recovering secondary raw materials.
- Separators are capable of sorting anything from screwdrivers and nails to microscopic metal chippings.
- Graded thermal classes by required operating temperatures (100oC - 120oC - 140oC - 250oC)
- Supplies of individual parts (magnetic inserts) to complete separator assemblies.
Main types of separator:
Grate separator
This separator consists of several parallel rows of magnetic rods, placed alternately above one another so that any passing metal admixture is bound to come into close proximity of a magnetic rod and get caught. The rods are enclosed in a thin-walled non-magnetic tube. After the rods are pulled out of the tube the metal admixtures will fall off (self-cleaning function). We also supply individual rods for the manufacture of the separator by the customer.
Magnetic filter
The magnetic filter is frequently used for filtering off fine ferromagnetic admixtures in oils, lubricating and cooling liquids, in hydraulic systems, etc. The filter is shaped as a vessel with an inlet and an outlet pipe. An array of magnetic rods is attached to the vessel lid around which the cleaned medium flows.
Magnetic drum
A type of rotating separator with a self-cleaning feature. It consists of a non-magnetic shell inside which a magnetic crescent-shaped insert is situated. The ferromagnetic admixture is pulled to the surface of the rotating drum and released in a position where it can be safely removed from the cleaned medium (bulk material or granulate).
Magnetic roller
Used for separating metal ferromagnetic particles and is placed as the front roller of a belt conveyor. This self-cleaning, highly productive separator can separate inadvertently included steel objects and clean the transported material. The advantage is its low acquisition cost.
